Adult recurve archers and junior archers of all bow types
For our final summer league match, adults (recurve archers only) and juniors (all bow types) each have a match against Stortford AC, to be shot at their ground (St Mary’s Catholic School, Windhill Road, Bishops Stortford CM23 2NQ) on Sunday 24th September. It will probably be an afternoon fixture, but details will be confirmed nearer the time. We need at least five adult participants and three junior participants to make up the respective teams.
Barebow
September’s Barebow fixture is postal and is against Elswood ‘A’, so Barebow archers wishing to take part should ensure that they submit at least one Short Metric score during the month of September. They are more than welcome to shoot such a round with the adult recurve and junior archers at Stortford on 24th September. We need at least two scores to be submitted in order to make up a team.
Compound
The September Compound fixture is postal and is against Abbey Bowmen, so Compound archers wishing to take part should ensure that they submit at least one Short Metric score during the month of September. They are more than welcome to shoot such a round with the recurve and junior archers at Stortford on 24th September. We need at least two scores to be submitted in order to make up a team.

The round we shoot in summer league matches is a ‘Short Metric’ of 72 arrows split into two different distances of 36 arrows each, on an 80cm target face. The round you shoot depends on your age group as follows:

Your age group is based on the age you will be on 31st December this year.
Archers may choose to shoot outside their age category, but shooting below your age group will mean that your score cannot be counted towards the match score.
New archers – there’s nothing stopping you shooting in these matches, but if you are not confident about reaching the distances required by your age group, just ask to shoot a round below your age group and just enjoy the day as practice. This applies to both home and away matches.
